Who: Flooded streets and spilling sewages are very well-known happenings for the inhabitants of Deurne, a town located in Brabant. Now the town of Deurne is taking up the battle against heavy rainfall with very divergent measures.
What: However, those measures aren’t always visible to the public eye. The government of Deurne was looking for a way to draw attention to the citizens about all the preventive procedures that happen (mostly) underground.
How: Dutch Rose Media created an Augmented Reality walking route throughout Deurne. With the Virtueel Deurne app citizens get to know Ron, an employee of the field staff, who guides them through the centre of Deurne and shows all the precautions for the floods. He tells you, among other things, about infiltration facilities, pumping stations and the sewage system. Download the app for Android or iOS.
