Digitizing and immortalizing fashion collections in full motion seemed a step too far until recently.

Digitizing and immortalizing fashion collections in full motion seemed a step too far until recently. With the help of volumetric video and augmented reality we make it possible! “Digitizing and immortalizing fashion is a super powerful way to tell your story. Plus, it’s multi-purpose for educational purposes,” says Mabel Dam – fashion design teacher at Summa Fashion, which is at the forefront when it comes to combining fashion and technology. For the second time in a row, Summa Fashion joined forces with 4DR Studios and Dutch Rose Media to present the collection to the public in a very special way.  

The 2021 Summa Collection was all about The Human Psyche. In this collection, personal stories, visions and missions are expressed in form, color and various materials. The outfits are characterized by extravagant style, colors and the striking in-depth prints containing a message; ‘how someone presents themselves to the outside world does not say anything about what is going on inside’ said SinteSalden– junior product management student. In realizing the Summa Collection, the students received help from none other than talented designer and former student MarlouBreuls. She is known for her signature avant-garde use of form, craftsmanship and exaggerated silhouettes.  

For The Human Psyche a total of two models were filmed in volumetric video wearing a total of nine very different outfits. These volumetric videos have been added to the Crafted app, allowing the models and outfits to be viewed from every angle in augmented reality . The Crafted app already has two collections, and thus becomes a virtual archive of all the beautiful things that are designed at Summa Fashion.
